BEAUTIFUL MEMORY VERSE (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
(KJV)
Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.(NKJV)

NINE ARRESTED IN SEARS RESTROOM
An article by Kari Cobham dated November 2, 2007 in the Daytona Beach news-journal online.com has this as an opening paragraph:
DAYTONA BEACH -- A former Daytona Beach city commissioner and a local high school teacher arrested Thursday during a sex sting at a Volusia mall bathroom were released from the Volusia County Brach Jail today, authorities said.
This type of arrest is not unusual at all, but makes the big time when there are men of some repute among those arrested. Even this story will not receive the coverage as did the one where a U.S. congressman was arrested recently in a restroom. This particular one in Daytona Beach is quite interesting to read and to ponder. There are numerous “Letters to the editor” printed below the article in response to it. Some mourning the arrest, while others suggest that they be hanged and others that they be castrated. But on the other hand, many do ask intelligent questions and others offer intelligent comments. The article may be read, as long as it remains online, at: Daytona Beach News-Journal
But in my opinion, it reinforces the arguments that I have always made concerning homosexuality and whether or not it is sanctioned by the Bible or if it is a normal or natural lifestyle.
The issue facing the American people is whether or not there should be special privileges given to homosexuals in their perverted lifestyle and not to every other form of sexual perversion. Using the subject group above as an example (and by the way, these men have not had their day in court so we must not presume their guilt) let us see what questions arise. We can, at least, use these as an hypothetical example pending the court’s decision in each case.
(1) Men of good reputation in the community, who have much to lose by this episode… so the question that hits my mind first and foremost is WHY? To have a gathering and somewhat of a sex orgy in a public rest room seems to me to be insane. Some of the response letters who were taking sides with those arrested, contends that they had to do that because there was no place provided for such a rendezvous!! (?) Have any of you ever known of a gathering place being provided heterosexual orgies? I’m speaking of provided by city, state or national funds which I presume the response had in mind. I contend that such activity is very sick, whether homo or hetero. I say that group sex among heterosexuals is a mental problem as well as homosexuality.
(2) Are these part of the same people who expect to be given special rights because they are homosexual, yet profess that they are normal and their lifestyle is natural? Again, some of those who responded to the article say that these people are not typical of those who want to settle down and live a normal quiet married life with another of their same sex. I understand that there are almost infinite degrees of sexual perversions but which ones are to get the special privileges? Maybe after they have lived a very prudent 5-10 years with their mate and been a deserving citizen? And may we presume that they have only one mate? If given rights to be equal to those of man and woman marriages, then they should be allowed only one at a time at least.
(3) It may be partly my own imagination, if so I apologize to all concerned. But it appears to me that these public displays, or near public displays are for the purpose of being seen or discovered by those who are heterosexual. I sometimes see two males or two females together who fondle and kiss in public to the point of being ridiculous. I have, on rare occasions, seen this type behavior between male/female couples, however, since we have 90% straight and about 10% gay, it would seem that the frequency of such displays would be much higher among heterosexuals than homosexuals. But the reverse is true.

Satan, Sin & The Church #20 Todays Alternative June 13, 2007
Ed Allard, Jr.
As we have seen already, Satan has many ways of bringing sin into the church. Acts 15 shows how he has worked in the past (and still does today) getting people in the church to make laws that God has not made. Satan has had great success in doing so. This is basically what brought about the first denomination and the countless others that have been created down through the years beginning in 606 A.D. The binding of what man has said about God’s word is the heart of all church laws, creeds, confessions of faith, books of discipline, books of order, etc.
Jewish Christians from Judea came to the church in Antioch of Syria saying that the Gentiles (non-Jews) had to be circumcised and obey the law of Moses in order to be saved (15:1, 5). Paul, Barnabas and others from the church in Antioch went to Jerusalem to confer with the apostles and elders of the church there about the matter.
Peter tells the assembled church that the message Paul preached was the same message he had been given previously by the Holy Spirit to deliver to the Gentile house of Cornelius (v.’s 7-11; cf. chapters 10 and 11). Paul and Barnabas declared the many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles, confirming the message of salvation they taught (vs. 12).
Then James the Lord’s brother summed up what Simon (Peter) had said and told them that the words of the prophets agreed with what had been said (v.’s 13-17). A letter was then written to the Gentile Christians in the churches in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia (v.’s 22, 23).
In that letter, mention was made of those who went out from Jerusalem who troubled the Gentile Christians, unsettling their souls, saying “You must be circumcised and keep the law [of Moses] --to whom we gave no such commandment” (my emphasis, E. A.) --.
Through those words it was made known that the Jewish Christians referred to were trying to make a law concerning salvation that God had not made. And in this way, we are taught that it is a sin to do so. Christ delegated the authority to make laws to no one, not even the apostles.
Satan failed on this occasion, but he doesn't let defeat stop him as it often does us. He continued to use these mistaken Jewish Christians to divide the church over matters concerning the law of Moses. He succeeded greatly in getting those in the Roman Catholic Church to change things concerning matters of salvation as have many others down through the years. This includes the Mormons who are so good in using Bible terms with changed meanings. In the Book of Mormon, remission of sins follows baptism. In the Doctrine and Covenants, baptism follows the remission of sins. It can’t be both ways.
The Monticello Church of Christ makes no laws that God has not given. We seek to follow all of Christ’s commandments as taught by the apostles. God’s plan of salvation is taught just as given to the apostles by the Holy Spirit. The inquiries of those who wish to follow the teaching of the New Testament are invited.

TODAY'S QUOTE(S)
"To the skeptic, the proposition that the genetic programmes of higher organisms, consisting of something close to a thousand million bits of information, equivalent to the sequence of letters in a small library of one thousand volumes, containing in encoded form countless thousands of intricate algorithms controlling, specifying, and ordering the growth and development of billions and billions of cells into the form of a complex organism, were composed by a purely random process is simply an affront to reason.
But to the Darwinist, the idea is accepted without a ripple of doubt - the paradigm takes precedence!" (Michael Denton, Evolution: A Theory in Crisis.)

MUSINGS OF JOEL
Antony Flew was born in London February 11, 1923 the son of a Methodist preacher. He was educated in religious schools and was somewhat of a skeptical Christian until somewhere around 1960 when he wrote two books promoting atheism for all until they could prove the existence of an supernatural source for all the universe. From this point on, he became possibly the best known atheist in the world as was held in high esteem by almost all the atheistic populace.
In 2004, at age then of 81, it was rumored that he had denounced atheism. This rumor had surfaced before and he had denied it outright. An atheist friend of his, heard of it and contacted him about it. It turns out that he has only slightly denounced atheism. He still dogmatically proclaims that the God of the Christians and the God of Islam are non existent, but he does now say that he believes that one must acknowledge there is an intelligent designer for the universe and all that is in it and thinks all should now accept that unless they can prove a natural means that this could have occurred. So, he is no better off than before and it is unlikely that he will become so. It is at least one step that might possibly influence some other atheist, but I doubt it. He is not a scientist but is a well educated philosopher and his moving to this stance is similar to what many scientists and other philosophers are giving some thought.
Not many of them will ever acknowledge these things but recent discoveries have made many of them realize they have no leg to stand on insofar as origins, evolution, etc., is concerned.

"Karl Popper warns of a danger: 'A theory, even a scientific theory, may become an intellectual fashion, a substitute for religion, an entrenched dogma.' This has certainly been true of evolutionary theory." (Colin Patterson, Senior Palaeontologist. British Museum of Natural History, London. Evolution (1977), p. 150.)
