BEAUTIFUL MEMORY VERSE (Ecclesiastes 4:6)
Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit
(KJV)
Better a handful with quietness Than both hands full, together with toil and grasping for the wind.

All About Matthew 12:40 A Contradiction?
An atheist recently challenged an article I had in the paper proclaiming the inerrancy of God's word. He listed 5 passages of scripture which he said contradicted others. His first was Matthew 12:40 "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
He then explains that Jesus died late of Friday afternoon, then rose very early on Sunday morning...two nights. And this was one of his better ones. Most knowledgeable atheists will not even use these scriptures to prove their point because they understand the meaning. Throughout the Bible you will find scriptures of this very nature used in the Jewish tradition of speaking. They normally used the term "morning and evening" or "day and night" instead of saying simply day. It was also their custom to count any portion of a day, however small, as a full day when speaking of a period of multiple days.
Esther 4:16 says: "Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish." Now in chapter 5:1 it says that "Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel...." which obviously allowed for 2 nights in the period. A virtual duplication of the references to Jesus in the earth and Jonah in the belly of the fish.

God---and the Big Bang? Adapted from the May 11,2007 broadcast of the Answers...with Ken Ham Radio Program
Did you know that many Christians believe that you can accept the big bang idea of the universe's creation, as long as you say God was behind it?
But there is a big problem with this approach. If you say God did indeed create the universe using the big bang, then what God said in the Bible isn't true.
If you read Genesis chapter one, it teaches that God made the earth first, covered witrh water. The sun, moon and stars weren't made until the fourth day of creation.
The big bang idea says the sun came before the earth, and then the earth formed as a hot molten blob for millions of years...until water formed. This is opposite to what God's word clearly states. Thus Christians can't add the big bang to the Bible.
Sadly, when Christians tell people they can believe in the big bang, they're also in essence saying, "But you don't have to take God at His Word."
Such compromise has undermined the authority of God's Word in our western nations. That's one of the eye opening messages our Creation Museum will present when it opens later this month. (May 28)

BUZZARD Today's science lesson
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top. [The moral of this story is, always build your buzzard pen at least 12 X 14. No one wants to keep a buzzard for life. JHH]

MUSINGS OF JOEL Sixty six books equals One Book
Most of our children who have completed a year or so out of the nursery classes, have learned that there are 66 books in the Bible and with a little more time probably will be able to recite the names of them all, certainly those of the New Testament.
But there are many statistics concerning this book that are not emphasized heavily to our youth and they should be. Of course, content is the valuable thing to put clearly into their young minds, but while they are still in their early years they can learn much concerning the book which will be beneficial in their absorbtion of the biblical story.
When we mention that the Psalms contains the most chapters of any of the 66 books, we need to explain that each of these chapters is actually an individual psalm (song or hymn of praise to God).It contains 150 individual psalms. The next longest book in the Bible, insofar as number of chapters, is Isaiah with 66. Next is Jeremiah with 52, Genesis with 50, Ezekial with 48, and on down to the single chapter books, Philemon, 2 John, 3 John and Jude.
And each book has unique characteristics which can be briefly explained to the children and memorized as they do their reciting and/or singing of the titles. There are numerous other statistics and facts about the Bible that can be of interest and value to the young. With the exception of a very few words, 2 Kings chapter 19, and Isaiah chapter 37 are identical. And did you know that God parted water for some to cross over on 4 occasions? It's true. I'll let you find them, or I'll answer your email if you have to ask.

The Thief and the Housedog
A Thief came in the night to break into a house. He brought with him several slices of meat in order to pacify the Housedog, so that he would not alarm his master by barking. As the Thief threw him the pieces of meat, the Dog said, "If you think to stop my mouth, you will be greatly mistaken. This sudden kindness at your hands will only make me more watchful, lest under these unexpected favors to myself, you have some private ends to accomplish for your own benefit, and for my master's injury." ...Aesop
